On the Street Where You Live

The clear blue crispness of day and streaming sunshine was enchanting me all day as I sat couped up in my office cubicle yesterday. So after work I kicked off my heels, grabbed the lease, and took Ellie for a long walk. As we walked a song from one of my favorite movies was echoing through my head.

My Fair Lady
(starring Rex Harrison and Audrey Hepburn)

"I have often walked down this street before
But the pavement always stayed beneath my feet before.
All at once am I several stories high.
Knowing I'm on the street where you live.
Are there lilac trees in the heart of town?
Can you hear a lark in any other part of town?
Does enchantment pour Out of ev'ry door?
No, it's just on the street where you live! "

Although the song is about the elation a man feels as he falls in love, it sums up how I was feeling yesterday while soaking up all of this spring beauty.

Even Ellie had to stop and smell the flowers.

Mrs. Bradshaw Geum is blooming beautifully.

Azelea in full bloom.

My shade garden getting ready to burst with color.

A closer look.... the circle is where I'll plant the coleus.

Wild fern popping up in a wooded area.

A perfect spot for a toad to call home.

A calming shade of blue.

The furry buds of a clemantis getting ready to put on a show.

Pappa goose, mamma goose, baby geese.

Reaching for the sky.

A fairy hole.

Snowing petals.

...more petals... I know what I'll be doing this weekend.

For being a fairly new gardener, even one with an inherited garden, you are quite a good gardener. Your shade garden is very pretty.

Hi Jackie, what a charming post! I love that song too. Seeing your Mrs. Bradshaw is fabulous, I just added her to my Geum collection and she has yet to bloom. I love that color. Hooray! Ellie is adorable. :-)

Good morning. I love the movie you mentioned. That song is going to stick in my head all day;)

Enjoyed youf older posts, especially about the basil. I haven't grown herbs in quite a while. Perhaps I'll add some basil and a few others this year.

Have a great weekend.
