In my garden the foxgloves this time of year are standing tall and proud, but I love to get up close and look at all the bright dots inside.
A cluster of delphinium blooms bursts with color, but the white center of a single one reminds me of a ruffle on a dress.
The spikes of a Russian Sage are always an invitation to butterflies and bees.
Yellow primrose is all over my garden. I let it naturalize because I enjoy the sunny show.
Here it is up against the moss of an oak tree in the shade garden...
Peeking out between the hostas...
A nice contrast against the feathery red of an astilble...

ReplyDeleteWhen I saw your closeup photo of the foxglove I immediately thought of bumble bees which caused me to squint to see if one was in there. Nice photos.

You have posted several of my favorite flowers! It's such a treat to see foxglove months after ours are finished.
ReplyDeletePS Although I can only envy your Delphiniums (they usually melt down here in NC), I have Russian Sage too. It's the ultimate cottage garden plant!

ReplyDeleteYour Foxglove are beautiful, I didn't have any success with them when I tried. Is there anything special to do with the Russian Sage? Mine are doing okay, haven't bloomed yet. I'm wondering if they need more sun than I'm supplying? Yours are beautiful. Thanks for sharing

ReplyDeleteI love Delphiniums and only wish I had better luck with them. And your Yellow primrose is amazing in all of your pictures. How cute peeking up through the Hostas and by the Oak tree. You turned them into the star of the show! LOL

Jackie, your yellow primrose look lovely dotted around the garden. I like to let things naturalize, too. We have honesty (money plant), evening primrose (pink), purple cone flowers, and garden phlox that has spread around the garden. I love the relaxed and easy feel it gives a garden. ~~Rhonda
