Caution I Brake for Plant Markets!

I have this problem with plant markets. Whenever I see one I’m compelled to stop and check it out – like a fly to honey I just can’t seem to stop myself, which can be a bit disconcerting if you happen to be the in the car with me and I slam on my brakes!

This particular market has become a REAL problem for me.

It’s only open from mid-April to November, but is located right near where I work. I actually have to drive by it on my way home. (Thankfully it’s on the other side of the exit ramps on my way into work or I’d be late every day.)

And, this place is AMAZING! It’s not your average plant market. The variety of perennials, annuals, veggies, hangers, and shrubs are numerous. Everything is well cared for, the people are knowledgeable about what they sell, and they don’t put out plants too early (I won’t name the big box stores that do this, but they shouldn’t be selling tomatoes in April here in New England without a warning sticker that reads, “Please don’t plant me outside right now cause I’ll freeze and die!”)

I stop by this place way too often. The owners know me by name and I’m sure I’m funding their kids college education. But, in these tight economic times I’m trying my best to save where I can and keep my spending down (Ok… maybe not as much as I should, but if Ellie’s dad is reading this that’s my story and I’m sticking to it!).

So I’m trying my best to curb my detouring.

But, the plants are so lovely….

Well I guess I could always pull out those old suits from the back of my closet instead of buying new work clothes. Do you think anyone would notice the shoulder pads?

That's it! I am moving to your neck of the woods. I so would love to have something like this in my neighborhood. I'll even take on in my county but that isn't gonna happen so I will admire yours for now.

I don't blame you for stopping there. It looks wonderful and so many pretty choices. I'm surprised too when I see some of the plants being sold at certain places too. It's early for a lot of things here, but people still buy them.
Tell your husband you are helping the economy by putting money back into it. I have to come up with excuses too :)

Hey I like shoulder pads! ;-) Go for it. That is one super market - and there are even things blooming. I'm with you Jackie, I'd be late for work every day too.
Funny that I went to our little market today - most everything they are selling right now is green so I just took a few distant pictures but will get more close ups if it ever quits raining and the sun comes back so we can see some blooms. Actually, I wanted to sell at the market today but couldn't see freezing my hiney off and getting wet just to support my habit!

What a fabulous plant market ... I'd be stopping there too. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Good luck with the nasturtiums seeds.

I brake for nurseries too! My kids get sooo impatient when they are in the car and I HAVE to pull over and just take a peek at new places. I will drive FAR for a great nursery! What did you get??

I'd rather buy plants than anything else, and you have to stop at plant markets every chance you get. You never know, they just may have a plant you have been dying for and you don't want to miss out.

Please respect my budget and keep such things to yourself! (not really) It's beautiful. I have a couple of places I love, but I'm not sure I know of any markets.
My sister knows a lady who does an annual yard sale of her perennials. Everyone around knows she has gorgeous stuff and she does quite well. I don't have enough gorgeous stuff yet!!
